Converging Metaverses & AI in the Media Space

Today, the media industry is embracing immersive virtual worlds, also known as “metaverses,” to deliver unique types of content and experiences to their audiences. At the same time, generative AI models are becoming more capable of creating increasingly compelling synthetic realities that promise to accelerate the creation of virtual worlds, but also raise legal, ethical and social issues, as well as the risk of spreading misinformation and disinformation.

This workshop was part of the SwissXR Week: Research & Startups organized by the Science & Technology Office Seoul under the umbrella of “Human-Centered XR”. On September 5, the Multimedia Computing Systems Lab (MCSLab) and the Center for Multimedia Intelligence at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) hosted the workshop “Converging Metaverses & AI in the Media Space” in collaboration with IMI. The event brought together great speakers and attracted about 22 participants.
