24-hour Game Jam to Rethink Information

This game jam, organized in collaboration with InForm, was a great success! Aimed at connecting the younger generations with the key role of information, this event brought together just over 40 highly motivated computer science, journalism and design students. Held over 24 hours starting on Friday evening, September 27, the students were challenged to design and develop video games around the theme of information, exploring topics such as fact-checking, a journey into the life of a journalist, and deepfakes.

The event resulted in the creation of 12 stunning game prototypes, each demonstrating the power of video games as a medium to engage young audiences with critical issues. Out of these, 3 winning teams stood out for their creativity, technical excellence and the demo they presented. Hosted by EPFL and made possible through the collaboration of numerous partners and the generous support of sponsors, the game jam was a memorable and inspiring experience for all involved.

The winning games are listed below:

  1. Goofy City Needs You by Joey Gugler, Emmanuel Omont, Romain Labbe, Adrien Jangal and Uri Jaquet
  2. The President is Dead by Ivan Kubrushko, Alexis Rodet and Augustin Berdat
  3. News, please by Maï-Linh Cordonnier, Cyrielle Lozano, Timéo Golaz, Jiri Gebauer and Clément Josso
