This year, our annual event was held on May 16 at the SwissTech Convention Center in Lausanne. On this occasion, we celebrated the collaborative work and achievements of our community of researchers and experts, and provided an opportunity for everyone to come together and reflect on how we could increase our impact at the intersection of media, science and society. This event also marked the launch of our new call for projects under the theme “Shaping the future of media and society: multidisciplinary projects on immersive and connected experiences and the open web”.
The diverse program included a pre-event workshop, conferences, project presentations and networking opportunities. Our keynote speaker was Natasja Paulssen of 4DR Studios and Dutch Rose Media (Netherlands), who shared her insights and experiences on volumetric video and the road ahead to bring traditional media brands into the realm of 3D. We also had inspiring presentations of AI-related projects supported by IMI on various topics such as computer vision, natural language processing, automatic translation, content recommendation and video processing.
Most importantly, attendees had the opportunity to connect with colleagues and other members of the community, including during the cocktail reception that concluded the evening.
45 people participated in the pre-event workshop and just over 125 people attended the main event.
